Jordan: Tuesday, September 7

After breakfast we rode camels back to Wadi Rum Village. Camels are not the most comfortable mode of transportation.  Then we drove to Uum Sayhoun, just north of Petra where we are staying with a Bedouin couple at an airbnb. After tea with our hosts and lunch at the Red Cave restaurant in Wadi Musa, we walked through the 1.2 km long siq. We walked around all of the flat areas and did a climb/scramble to view the treasury from a higher location. Apparently before Covid it was extremely crowded. There were lots of people but it was by no means crowded.  The downside of that was that the very pushy vendors and the 'taxi' service of men and boys with camels and donkeys had fewer targets and were incredibly annoying. "Petra, Taxi, Madame"?  "Petra, Lamborghini, madame?" "You need donkey ride, cheap, madame"  "You need guide, cheap?" They followed us pestering us nonstop, sometimes more than one. The only time we got a break was when we were out of the public area completely or with another guide.  We stayed in Uum Sayhoun with a Beduoin couple. She was an exceptionally good cook.
