Wednesday, April 18:

In the morning I walked toward Bergneustadt, stopping at the Hagebaumarkt, the building store. Outside a man had parked a new Morgan. He came out while I was looking at it so we chatted about it for a while since I had toured the Morgan factory when I had gone to England. The cars are still handmade with an ash chassis in Malvern, England.

Then I did a little food shopping

 and explored Alte Bergneustadt.

This protestant church was originally build in 1333 and rebuilt in 1698

Difficult to see in this picture, but the buildings actually curve to match what was originally the city wall.

These sheep are right in the town of Bergneustadt grazing right next to the main road.

and then bought flowers for Tante Friedl and food since Stephen and Jessie were coming, and I had also invited Regina to Mittagessen the next day. I bought wurst, sauerkraut, spargel und pieces of Schwarzwalderkirschtorte.

Then we had Mittagessen at Regina’s -- ratatouille with noodles. After that we walked to Tante Friedl’s apartment which is near the assembly. She is 92 years old and very spry and energetic. After we visited her, Annemarie, Regina, and I went for a walk together, crossing the road back to Regina’s side (north side) and went up in the hills overlooking Wiedenest. Do^rstpeweg. There were all sorts of interesting birds: rhea (nandu auf deutsch) chicken, and turkey as well as a fishpond. Then we walked up in the valley which overlooked the
Aggertalsperre--dam in valley for water.

After the walk we came back to Regina’s flat for an evening meal, then we drove back up in the hills to see the wood sculptures.
