Saturday, April 14, 2018: Castel Gandalfo and Frascati

Saturday, April 14: In the morning I went for a long walk around Finocchio

and found another second hand store which had 2 lamps that I liked. When I got back, Elisabeth drove us to the store from the previous evening where I bought the lamp that I had liked.

Then we went to the other store and found out that the two lamps that I liked were on consignment and would be dropped to half price the next day.  While I was walking Elisabeth and Annemarie prepared a lot of different foods for the weekend and for the outreach at their church. Annemarie cooked fresh artichokes.

After lunch we went to the pope’s summer residence, to a graveyard, and to Frascati where we saw a wedding at the church and ate gelato overlooking the town below.

Lake Albano is a small volcanic crater lake in the Alban Hills of Lazio, at the foot of Monte Cavo, 20 km southeast of Rome. Castel Gandolfo, overlooking the lake, is the site of the Papal Palace of Castel Gandolfo. (wikipedia)

Next Few pictures of Castel Gandalfo:

Grotto Ferrato near Marino: Rich people have large monuments or stones for their family. Poor people have a niche in the wall. All have candles and flowers.

Then we drove to Frascati, stopping first at a museum of ancient Roman artifacts, down in a courtyard below street level.
