Thursday, September 29, 2013, part I: Beijing University

In the morning we took the subway to the Beijing University where Andrew taught.  He gave us the opportunity to teach his English class.  He started us out with discussing the text for the day, but we quickly turned off into bunny trails answering the students' questions.

The students were a really nice bunch of kids.  We really enjoyed it.

We ate lunch in the cafeteria, a wide variety of food.

But the highlight was the homemade noodles.  Watching the difference between the two men making the noodles was especially interesting.

After lunch we walked around the campus.

The school specialized in Marxist studies, Humanities and Social Science, and Language and Communication studies.

Chairman Mao statue

The sculpture in front is the school's motto: Theory and Practice.  The calligraphy at the top of the building behind was originally written by Chairman Mao.
